Arleigh B. Templeton was the first President of the University of Texas at San Antonio. He served as President from 1970 through December 1972. Before coming to UTSA, he was President of Sam Houston State University, 1963-1970, and later served as President of the University of Texas at El Paso, retiring in 1980. Templeton began his career in education as a high school principal, school district superintendent, and President of Alvin Junior College. The collection includes clippings, correspondence, and scrapbooks documenting Arleigh B. Templeton's tenure as President of the University of Texas at San Antonio, as well as some documentation of his presidencies at Sam Houston State University and the University of Texas at El Paso.

Arleigh Brantley Templeton was the first President of the University of Texas at San Antonio. With the help of the University of Texas Board Chairman Frank Erwin, Associate Chancellor for Business Don Walker, Texas House Appropriation Chairman Bill Healy and Lt.
